Honeymoon on the East Coast of America?

was hoping i could get a little advice about traveling the east coast of America. Me and my Fiance are planning a 6 week driving honeymoon next summer starting from Maine and finishing in Florida. We will also be detouring across to Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana. any recommendations (apart from the obvious big cities) on smaller more unusual/beautiful/fun spots along the way?? thanks so much!!
