How does the shape of the earth affect our view of the stars?

Im doing an essay and the intro has to summarize Polaris. Then I have to make a conclusion about the altitude of Polaris and the latitude of the observer in the Northern Hemisphere. After that I have to state the relationship that exist between the altitude of Polaris and the latitude of the observer? (either negative , positive , or none)
