Road trip, London to Dorset?

I am thinking about making a road trip from London to Dorset and I was wondering if any of you have suggestions of sights and scenes to stop off at on the way there. I have never ventured to that part of England so I don't have a clue about it. I do know that Stonehenge is (kind of) on the way there so I may make a detour to that.
