I live in Canada a have a US Debit Mastercard. The fees for using it within Canada are killer - what can I do?

If I go across the border and make withdrawls/purchases within the continental united states, I don't get charged these ridiculous international fees. Is there anything I can do, or buy online perhaps, that will effectively let me take a fee-avoiding detour through the USA and back to Canada?
