Will this count as a date?

there is this boy in my class who smiles alot a me.. friendly but nerdy with very few words.. a bit to be too shy for his own good, usually i give him n his buddy rides home after class as we live just a few blocks apart. last time he was alone, so i took a detour an took him to a park.. kinda a romancing couple infested park.. we had a great time .. he seemed to liked he was having fun too, given that he doesnt have a GF nor does he hang out with other girls (none that i know of) will this count as a date? is it okay if i do this again?? i don't think it will work out if i keep waiting for him to take me out on a date
